Solved Need help diagnosing IE9, fails to run

I am using my desktop icons to launch IE. However, I launched it from the start menue too, but only by right clicking > run as admin

Sorry, I saw that as a source on the tutorial A GUY mentioned. I will run the windows 7 forum tutorial now

After running the windows 7 forum tutorial as A GUY recommended IE will now open normally.

Do i leave my PC the way it is now, or is this a diagnostic to help solve the problem?

No need to apologize, I did not mean to come across as chastising. I wanted to point out the better methodology in the tutorial and as you found out - it helps.

No problem UsernameIssues, I needed to understand what A GUY wanted me to due.

Alright A GUY, I performed a Clean Startup and it solved the problem initially, but then it returned after another restart, so i will have to continue with the tutorial to find out what is going on.

I may need to carefully run this a few times till i have the answer, and be sure i did the tutorial correctly.

A GUY, is this the folder/path you wanted me to try to start IE from:

c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

If so, i needed to right click > run as admin also.

I will report back later with the results.

I really appreciate all the help from this forum as my problem has drifted around and changed. I did not know that the problem as I first posted it would so dramatically change.

If the problem returned after a reboot with all the startup items still disabled, it must have been an oddity. It seemed hopeful, but if after a restart, and nothing re-enabled, it might not have made a difference. A Guy

I think I found the problem, though I've said that before!!!

I ran the MSCONFIG and found one service that causes the problem: My antivirus, Zone Alarm.

I took a screen shot of the process, or service.

I re-ran the tutorial a lot to make sure that this was the offending process.

I have all the other boxes checked but this one and IE10 starts and runs fine. in fact, it starts up very quickly now. It never started that quick before. It always hung there for almost 30-40 seconds before it would fully load up and run.

I rebooted also, and it still starts fine.

I gather this was the problem from the very start, but my limited knowledge led me in circles

I feel like an auto mechanic looking for a bad fuel pump for a week, only to discover it was simply a blown fuse, lol!!

I am leaving the offending service turned off for now, and not sure what exactly it does. My ZA seems to still work OK with that process turned off, no error messages and it updates and scans normally.

Ahhh, thats it! That was the reason for disabling things and then enabling a few, then one at a time. Time consuming, but you did it. I am not a fan of Zone Alarm, but it is certainly better then no firewall. But the Force Field browser protection is most certainly the cause.

ZoneAlarm ForceField IswSvc - IswSvc.exe - Program Information

You can disable it from within the program

Open ZoneAlarm> Browser Security> Settings> Advanced tab> Uncheck Enable Virtualization> OK

I see others renaming C:\Program Files\CheckPoint\ZAForceField\ISWSVC.exe to ISWSVC.exe.bak or similar.

My pc is operating perfect, with IE10 and everything works excellent!

I guess its time to mark it as SOLVED. (for real, lol)
