Need help reducing the amount of stuff on my hard drive?

Hi im a computer geek and have drawn a interest in computers recently. i need help cleaning up my hard drive because i have nothing on the drive and i cant reduce the amount. i have used every free thing out there and defrag, system clean up, and delete restore points. i moved all my photos, movies, and doc to my new external hard drive. so i don't understand whats going on. so i came to the conclusion that i need to weed out the system drive. so im asking for help on what i can delete and what to keep. i know that you don't know whats personally on my computer but if there things that i can delete then let me now. also i keep on getting private folders on my drive that don't let me access them and there named like thing "3da3a013e05bac45ee4e8b19d917" so let me know if i can delete because there is like 5 of them. so plz help me want to have more experience with computers.

I'd take a look at the suggestions in this tutorial on how to free up hard drive space.

   Warning

Deleting the wrong thing can render your computer useless. Make a system image just in case something goes wrong.

You might also like WinDirStat it gives yo a graphical representation of space used on your drive.

As marsimar said. Do not delete any system files it will destroy windows

From an elavated cmd prompt, turn off hibernation. This will remove a file that is the size of your RAM.
powercfg -h off

If you are trying to reduce the partition size, Windows puts hidden folders near the end of the partition.
Disk Management can't move those files. Partition Wizard can.
Partition Wizard
The CD or USB memory stick option is the best approach.

If you have a different issue then post a screen shot of your Disk Management.
For posting the information , enter 'Snipping tool' in the Start button > Search box, hit enter. Select the area you want to post and save to a convenient place.

JAM Software - Windows Freeware

As has been mentioned, a snapshot of diskmanagement output will be helpful.

HOW TO POST A SNAPSHOT OF DISK MANAGEMENT DISPLAY
Run disk management:
WIN | type DISKMGMT.MSC | ENTER
WIN=key with Microsoft logo on top.


Maximize the output of Disk Management:
ALT-Spacebar key combo | X key (selects Maximize) |
Drag the field separators (such as between Status and Capacity) to show entire field.


Make a snapshot:
WIN | type SNIPPING | ENTER | New
Drag the cursor around the area you want to snip.
File | Save as | select save location and name | Save

that would certainly give him a clean slate although a little drastic to throw out the baby with the dirty bath water.
