Go to Start > Run,and type msconfig. Uncheck all entries except for your anti-virus software.

You can also disable unneeded services.

Be careful here.

Check Black Viper's site here for a good explanation:

The idea is that sometimes (most of the time actually) there are entries in the startup section of msconfig that will slow your system down... once you disable them, then you can tell whether this improves your system speed or not... usually it will.... Do as Greg suggests and post your results... ;)

Hello ComputerUser,

Usually a clean install works best instead of a upgrade, but the items listed in the tutorial below should help increase the performance of Windows 7.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I would agree. Getting rid of needless startup programs is the best way to speed up your computer.

Try CCleaner and use the function to stop any unnecessary startups.

lets do this too cause we need to go more indept with your hardware...

Download this software and run it on your computer and youw ill be amazed on how much information it will pull up on your computer

SiSoftware Sandra Lite Download - Softpedia

I would just do like a Overview / Motherboard configureation...... The overview should be good enough but the motherboard will tell us in dept on how its transfering files...

the over view will give us a good general id of what exactly we got running in that system
