Before switching from XP to Win 7 I used a utility add on called 'Open Expert' from BAxBEx but this does not work in Win 7. I was able to right click and choose a version of any program where I had installed two or more versions of that program.

The 'Open With' command is missing on my version of windows (7 Home Premium) Can anyone help with this problem please?

Thanks for that information.
I tried it but it still does dot work for me.
Perhaps i will try to solve the problem by simply re-installing Internet Explorer 10.

I am sorry if I have confused you, I read somewhere that re-installing explorer might help - clearly I was wrong.
I am away for the weekend but will have another go at using your suggested fix next week and see if I can sort it out.
My apologies to you for my confusion.
Ron

Just before you depart, a quick question:
In your first post here you said "Before switching from XP to Win 7"!
Was this buying a new PC with Windows 7 pre installed or did you install Win 7 on you old XP machine? If so is that when this problem first arose? If so where did you get the Win 7 install disc from?

If you've lost the Open With menu option for ALL file types, including non-executable files, follow this steps:

1. Click Start, All Programs, Accesories, Notepad.

2. Copy and paste this text:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Open With]
@="{09799AFB-AD67-11d1-ABCD-00C04FC30936}"

3. Click File, Save As, name the file "OpenWith.reg" (WITH THE QUOTATION MARKS) and click OK.

4. Now double-click OpenWith.reg, click Continue, Yes, OK, and see if the problem is solved.

If you read the OP's post #3 you will see that he has already tried that fix from the earlier post that I gave him. That Brink tutorial is exactly the same as you posted!

I had a similar problem. I see Ron once had another program to help. I have "File Association Helper" which stops "open with" but now I've found that after I've told FAH I don't want to see it again I can left click and get the usual choice. "File Association Helper" is very complicated to get rid of and the REG file option did nothing at all. I have no experience of Ron's old program but a similar workaround may work. Ron did not say what dialogue he got if any on just clicking open.
