It looks like whs beat me to it

Yes format factory is the best in my opinion.

You can convert just about anything into just about anything.

Ultimate video options any resolution you want

5.1 surround in vob format or any other format for that matter for free where as others want $$$

but most important it will do your flv

It is fairly simple.

I think you will like it as it can also do pictures and music conversions

You can save yourself a lot of time doing conversions if you can get either a DVD player that can play divx/avi/wmv or a set top box such as WD or one of the others. The set top box can generally play more formats in HD resolution.

Also this conversion software has a batch mode:

To start with I would reecommend that you go with StalkeR's recommendation of using Freemake's Free Video converter Free Video Converter| MP4 FLV 3GP AVI MKV DVD| FREE Download , which is eminently suitable for newbies. It can straight away join, convert, and burn your videos to DVD.

As you grow in confidence and stature, you may explore other avenues for tweaking the video conversion.

And as recommended by whs be wary of installing codec packs. Too many codec packs can spoil the broth.

Ok guys I'm stoked I found this forum. Thank You all I just got one burnt but it don't have no audio on it. I burnt it through the freemake one suggested above. Any tips or know why this happened with this program and if I can't get it I will try the other one you all suggested.

The reason I'm doing this is to have music videos instead of just the cd since my vehicle has built in tv's. Sorry if I'm a pain...lol

Some burning programs do not record audio if you do not have the right filetype. E.g. DVD Flick does that if your input is .wmv (that is why I suggested .avi which works). But you usually get a warning which you may have overlooked.

Another option:

1. Convert to .avi with Format Factory. Here is a little tutorial I made how to use it: Format Factory on Vimeo

2. Burn it with DVD Flick. Those DVDs will also work on normal DVD players.

I've tried to download that dvd flick like 10x and it won't let me it starts then starts slowing way down until it quits downloading completely. Any ideas of what is wrong with it?

A tip here:

Use Freemake Video converter to convert the video to ISOs only. Mount the ISO on to a virtual drive play it and see whether everything is OK. (Download and install Slysoft's Virtual CloneDrive SlySoft Virtual CloneDrive ) If everything is OK then you can burn the ISO to DVD using Windows native Image Burner or any other burner you may be comfortable with.

I don't have the faintest idea what could have happened. I never had download problems with it. Try SourceForge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/dvdflick/

To begin with before trying anything. If you look at the file can you see what the name of the file is and after the decimal point what tag is listed?

Example:
file534.avi
file534.rar
file534.wmv
etc.....

To know what format you have to start with will make it easier to walk you thru this process. There are many different format types and they mostly are not user friendly so getting the correct format for the program is always best.
