I have Win 7 Pro with a 24 inch LCD monitor and in a number of programs the screen is too large and some of the lower buttons needed to fully operate the program features are not fully visible and unusable. I have investigated Display Size Settings and find that the resolution is set at the recommended value of 1920x1080 in landscape.

There does not appear to be any way to reduce the screen size - for example by increasing the screen resolution to a value greater than the recommended setting.

Any one have suggestions on how I might reduce screen size in those programs that are affected by screen size?

TIA,

Frank

Double click the blank area to the left of or next to [Minimize & Maximize] [Restore Up & Restore Down] [Close] to eliminate the chance of not having the programme windows fully set to fill screen, you can apply this to each programme that is affected by such a problem as you are describing.

It might help, or it might not. Good luck.

Thanks Shawn and iTrip for your assistance. I set the DPI to 100% (it was set for 125%) - I think that is the cause and will see if that remedies the issue with some programs. Will also try your suggestion iTrip in those same screen issues.

Great news Frank. Glad we could help. :)

Sweet. I was very eager to hear witch solution would cure your issue, much obliged.

While I was reading this thread again there was another cure that came to mind: Some programmes require a certain prerequisite desktop screen resolution that matches the program's default start resolution in order to start and or display correctly, but these type of programmes are few and far between, of the top of my head something such as 3DMark.

iTrip the issue was occurring in a few programs but most annoying in Picasa - could not see or use the lower screen buttons that are essential to importing photos and tweaking or emailing them.

Your suggestion works as did reducing the DPI from 125% to 100%

BTW would like to mark this thread solved but cannot find an obvious way to do it? Only mark unsolved is apparent.

Frank,

When you see the green check mark in the thread title and the "Mark unsolved" button, it means that the thread is already marked solved.

Otherwise, you would see a "Mark solved" button instead of a "Mark unsolved" button. :)
