Solved Need some advice - improper shutdowns

In simple, I don't usually turn off my lappy - its mostly under Sleep Mode when I'm away. I use the lappy only while being powered to the power card, so I hardly use Lappy's battery.

In the past week - lappy was booted improperly twice, once probably due to some magnet being placed near my lappy - as there was a guy working on my Home Inverter. Booting wasn't an issue - had no probs ran sfcscan.

Again today, accidentally I removed the power cable - due to the usage of USB ports - Wireless Mouse, Speakers, Cooling Fan & an VLC playing, battery ran out with in 30 odd minutes I think before I plugged in power cord, it shut down - due to low battery. I have no issues with the lappy now either.

I would like to double check if my HDD is unaffected or not. Can I run /chkdsk or something while I'm working or can you suggest me any methods, through which I could confirm if every thing's fine on my lappy's end. I'm pretty much an amateur/novice in these stuffs, so simple methods please

There's been no problem on my lappy - no lagging issues or anything. I ran sfcscan just before I composed this msg - it didn't show any probs either.

Open Explorer, right click on the C: drive - Properties - Tools - Error check - check now.
It will schedule to check on next restart.

Hi Goodlad,
your comp did exactly what its supposed to do when the battery power runs down.
You might have lost some data, from the last time it was saved, but NO major problems for the OS

I have had 2 minor issues since past few days, one is mouse is not functioning properly after moving laptop here & there. I had to remove speakers USB cord, then remove wireless mouse USB cord blow some air on to them, then into the USB ports, then it works again. It happened twice once few days back & again today, strange never occurred before. Other seems to be battery has stopped charging at 35%. I have hardly used battery time, may be 5-6 times on a whole but its an old lappy though. First things first, checking errors now

Just 1 last question for actual topic friends, can I schedule all my disk for chkdsk at startup using the method mentioned by Megahertz07 ? I have 4 drives - C, D, E, F. Just wanted to confirm before scheduling all of them at once.

Only disk C: must be scheduled as it is use under Windows. As the others aren't you can immediately check or schedule to next start up. Do it (run or schedule) one by one.
