Need to move system to new NVME and hopefully change to GPT partition

Goals:
-Back up system drive
-Have OS and all my programs running on new NVME drive and also switch from MBR to GPT partitioning.
-My current system drive will remain in the PC so if it can remain as a bootable option, that would be great since I needed to find a "hotfix" driver in order to get the NVME drive to work on Win7 and if something were to happen to the driver for what ever reason, I could be no longer able to boot?!
-If I can avoid using third party softwares that would be neat


Issues:

-I have system images stored to an internal drive but I cannot successfully complete one to my external drive. Error code: 0x8078002a .........Is there no way to copy and paste the entirety of the image to another drive, hidden files and all?

-How can I clone the Boot drive to my new drive while also making the new drive utilize GUIT Partition Table as my current system drive uses Master Boot Record?

-How can I change my Boot mode from Legacy to UEFI in order to boot from a GPT drive, and does this come before or after?

Welcome to the forum. The only good way is to do a clean install changing to uefi and new drive which will need drivers from an image is going to be a nightmare and keeping the old drive in won't boot in uefi mode

The nvme updates are in my sig at the bottom of this post.

One way is to initialize the nvme disk to gpt. Create the partitions.

Then apply the system image to the windows partition, using wbadmin commands.

Install the nvme updates to the image you just applied. I would use dism++ to do that.

use bcdboot to create the boot files on the ESP (System) partition.

You could move the entire windowsimagebackup folder to the root of a different partition. If you do that you can only access the most recent image.

One way is to install the MVMe drivers to the current installation. Once you have no yellow alerts on device manager you're ready to convert the current drive from Legacy-MBR to UEFI-GPT. To do so you can use win 10 mbr2gpt.exe using a Win 10 installation drive. Once the current drive is converted to UEFI-GPT you set BIOS to UEFI and then clone the current drive to the MVMe drive.

You can use AOMEI Backupper or Macrium Reflect to make a 1:1 disk clone to an external USB drive of equal or greater size. There's also Clonezilla which I use.

Those drive images have been hit and miss for me in the past. I just do a full disk clone to another external HDD. Perhaps for drive images the software Driveimage XML might be a lot better, I don't know.
