Can't remember for sure - without actually burning a disk! but I think the drawer opens and you have to push it shut and then it verifies.
You don't have to have the box ticked but verifying ensures that the burned disk is the same as the original. Though I haven't had a failure yet with ImgBurn.
Glad you like it - Nero used to be good years back but now is very bloated.
