Solved .NET framework 3 / 4 fatal error / installation problems

Hi. Usually i never post about such issues as i'm able to solve them myself or with bit of googling, but this is getting on my nerves. been messing with it for over 5 hours by now.

All this started that my Camtasia Studio 8 stopped launching, process just closed after i launched it. This is second time it happend, first time i restored some registry backup made by registry mechanic (even tho that backup was from the time it stopped working) and then magically it started working again, this time i never made any changes in registry.

So i used Revo Uninstaller pro to check what camtasia is doing and delete ALL registry values and files that camtasia installer have ever created. That didn't help either, so i thought that only thing that may cause this is .NET 4 (camtasia website says that .NET 4 is required for it to work).

sooo i uninstalled .NET 4 and everything related, cleaned registry ..etc
Now im unable to re-install .net 4.
I get the following error code: 0x80070643

Also if i go into windows features on/off and try to disable framework 3.5, it gives errors, says something like that "all the changes could not be made" and asks to reboot. after reboot, nothing's changed.


What i have tried:

1. Followed ALL the steps from this microsoft article:
.NET Framework update installation error: "0x80070643" or "0x643"

2. Used .NET Framework Setup verification utility
it says that 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 are intact and no errors found. even tho clearly 3.5 is not intact!

3. use the .NET repair tool (shown in that microsoft article).


Any ideas what the hell is going on with it and how can i fix this?
Isn't there a way to pull all the files + registry values from another PC running exact same OS?

Did you use the .NET Framework CleanUp Tool mentioned in the same MS article ?

yes ofcourse. I tried anything i could think of and everything i found in google and yahoo searches.
but i gotta say, im not surprised that there is no answer, sevenforums seem to be only for beginners, i've never seen solutions to advanced stuff here (no offence intended, i've found some useful tips here tho, like how to disable that dumb shake and clip to edges "features").

never solved it, i had to re-install the OS. i didn't have a choice cuz i didn't find solution anywhere and using Camtasia is one of the most important things on my PC.

i hate microsoft for that, everything to do with them is SO DIFFICULT, why can't they just store all the files in same folder? they cant even name .NET properly, filenames are all messed up, i have to name them manually to know what is what.
It would be so simple to have folders for each:
dotNET_framework1.0
dotNET_framework2.0
..etc .. but instead they go all over the windows and system folders and you never find anything, registry is different, but they make 10000+ keys .. that's just lame.

At end i tried Revo Uninstaller Pro and monitored the installation and tried removing everything it created, but still didn't help.

You must be kidding right? The best Windows Seven forum on the net, solving the most difficult problems every day? You assumed .NET was the issue, so uninstalled it and cleaned the registry, and now you have created a difficult to fix issue with that. It's no wonder you have no more replies.

You say no offense intended, but I'll let you know, most will be offended. We are all volunteers here, giving of our time willingly. Some have thicker skin, but as you might find, most do not. You did make the right decision in reinstalling BTW. A Guy
