Does anyone have a trick to get the plug-in for NetFlix working on Windows 7 Media Center? I know of the other 2 unofficial apps (vmcNetFlix, and one other) fans created, but they aren't as good as the official one from Microsoft/Netflix.

On Vista, it just automagically appears on the menu and prompts you to download the plug-in.

This is going to be the one caveat that keeps me from upgrading my girlfriends HTPC to Windows 7. Or that keeps her from letting me I should say ;)

I haven't been able to find one yet. I use another app for Netflix, I'm hoping boxee finishes their netflix support soon as I have heard 7 won't offer Netflix support anytime soon.

I tried Vista for a little while and I loved Netflix in the Media Center, I didn't love Vista crashing half way through the movies.

The Vista version of the plugin will not work no matter what you do to it on Windows 7. This was confirmed over at The Green Button by the Windows Media Center Team. It's just because architecturally the plugin won't work they said (in a nutshell). They did say there will be a plugin for the Windows 7 Media Center, but we just have to wait for it. There is still plenty of time until 7 goes to store shelves so it could be a while longer. Or if we are lucky it will be around the time it goes to TechNet/MSDN on August 6th.

I just upgraded my x86 Vista Ultimate to x86 Windows 7 Ultimate. My NetFlix plug-in didn't show up in Media Center, either. I then uninstalled SilverLight, then installed the latest version. SilverLight requires pretty open security for NetFlix to work. I don't know if it helped, but after I reinstalled SilverLight, I opened my NetFlix to stream in another tab. The plug-in showed up and works as advertised. Good luck!

Netflix Just Showed Up

Windows Media Center downloaded a software update yesterday (12/8/09) and lo and behold a Netflix option appeared. Must not be on the install disk version (I just installed Windows 7 so I am behind the times....) Anyway, works great so far.

I've had it ever since I went to 7...just search for "Netflix for Windows Media Center"...it'll take you to the Media Center website where you can load it into WMC.
