Network Login

I have 5 computers running Windows 7 Ultimate, and what I want to be able to do is have network user accounts. Is there any way that I can be able to go to the login screen on any of the five PC's, and see the same user accounts? And, no matter where I login, it takes me to exactly where I left off, no matter what computer I'm on?

I guess I'm dreaming of making my house a thin client network, but is there a way to make this happen?? :sarc:

The only time I've seen something like this was at my Highschool where we were on a server. Everytime a computer was logged off or on it was synced with that server so that we had all the same files no matter what computer we were on. At my school students were issues laptops and damage to them was not uncommon, so having the server made it easy to just switch computers or parts on that one computer. Unless someone else that has done this before comes along, I don't think there is a simple way to do it.

convert one of these computers into a server say running Linux or Windows 2003/2008 Server and use this as a VPN for your other computers.

That way ANY computer logging in would see the the standard login screen where they could run all their desktop applications but going through your VPN.

If you did it that way there wouldn't be a problem with "Client Access Licenses" as the software such as for example Office 2007 would already be installed on the client computer.

I'd probably go for Linux as its FREE and run something like OPENVPN.

With a bit more complexity you could also access this VPN from OUTSIDE your local network too.
