I've been trying to get DLNA to work with my LG BD570 Blu Ray player and this computer. It works with my laptops but I can't seem to get it working here.

Trying to figure out why DLNA wasn't working I stumbled across this. When I look at my network map it shows this computer connected to "Unknown" before the router?

That is like that even when the Blu Ray is turned off. There is a shared network printer(which wasn't on either).

Secondly when I try to connect to the DLNA through the blu ray it asks for a CIFS uswer name and password which I thought was my @live email address. My laptop worked using that but my desktop will not. I tried to follow the instuctions here DLNA Setup on a LG Blu-ray Player - LG Consumer Knowledge Base but couldn't seem to get it right.
My media streaming options are the same on both computers.

I don't get why it doesn't show in the network map like it should.

After a little surfing on google I found an answer that appears to fix it. Unknown device on Nework Map between laptop and wireless router

by disabling then re enabling IPv6 in my adapter settings

it seemed to remove the "unknown" part on both of my computers network map.

I haven't tried to see if accessing my computer through DLNA on my blu ray player has worked yet. I'll report back in if it does.

I forgot to update. I couldn't figure out why DLNA wasn't working through my home network so I went to my backup from a year ago and it works now

Thanks for reporting about the unknown device fix Billy. Looks like it pays to have a back up image also.
