Networking 7 & XP

Hi i own a dell dimension 2400, 4600, running XP service pack 3, an inspiron 1150 running XP professional and 2 computers running windows 7. An inspiron 1545 and a gateway netbook. What I would like to ultimately do is network these computers so i can access edit and view files on all of my computers at my leisure. on the windows 7 PC's i have had alittle more luck i can move files between these two computers but not retitle them once they're moved. in short i would like to be able to access all of these pc's files videos pics ect. from where ever i am in my house move and edit them from any computer.

I am able to share my C drive from my two computers that are running win7, but the XP computers will not allow me to be shared. How would I be able to gain access?

any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone knows what to do step by step please help! thank you.

HI Gmm131,

You can access the C:\ of any computer using the administrative share \\IP_ADDRESS\c$. but remember you must be a administrator in order to access the share. Note. Its not recommended to use C:\ as a share its better you share a folder and use that.

also check whether both the XP Computers are in the same workgroup & that the windows firewall is allowing file and print sharing on all your computers.

And remember that XP Pro allows networking, HP Home is limited, same for 7 Home Premium - you can connect to external pcs but it limits you to incoming connections. 7 Pro has full networking.
