I upgraded two of my computers to 7. One is a desktop and the other is a laptop. I am trying to network them together to share files etc.

My setup:
DSL modem into Linksys Router into Ethernet Hub.
I have run the hub connections to 6 rooms.
Internet works on all connections.

I cannot seem to get the desktop to see the laptop orvice-versa.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

You have internet connection working fine when you attached to each of the ports of the hub, right?

What exactly do you mean by you cannot get the laptop to see the desktop?

Is the laptop using wireless?

Is the laptop using wireless?

Yes I have internet on each of the ports of the hub.

I mean, I setup the Homegroup on the desktop and couldn't find it using the laptop. The laptop only gave me the option to create a new Homegroup.

The laptop is using wireless.

Well for the laptop to join the Homegroup created by the desktop, it must be on the same network. The fact that the laptop cannot see the Homegroup would be that it might not be on the same network whilst using wireless.

Can you supply ipconfig /all details for both the wireles laptop and the desktop?

Try going through this Homegroup trouble shooter, it usually helps with these types of problems.

If following that set up procedure doesn't fix the problem you should delate the file mentioned in this post and follow the rest of the procedure.
