Our new Windows 7 box is connected to our LAN (can ping the router that is DHCP server, a Dlink 614) but IE keeps saying "http 400 bad request".

All other machines on the LAN are working normally.

What do I need to change?

Thanks,
Jackie.

Try a different browser. I recommend Opera. Open the Network And Sharing Center in the Control Panel and select the Troubleshoot Problems link at the bottom. There you will find several options that might help.

The first step is to go to the device manager and look for any warnings by TCP/IP

Then go to the little network icon bottm right and right click, to troubleshoot connection problems

Then you can try to type cmd in search by start menu. In cmd type ipconfig and look for any thing that looks like a problem. It should show that you are connected.

Is your compter getting a bad signal?

Try turning off A/V and firewall. Make sure you reconnect after the test.

Hi jackie and welcome

We could use a bit more info.

I suspect
homgroup, and IPv6

can you try ipconfig / flushdns, then ipconfig /renew. if it is a dns/dhcp prob that should show it.

Let us know your network setup
