HI, i had near 1 month trying to resolve the problem of my new G73sw, hope here i can solve it or at least know what is the problem

i bought this laptop in past march 23 2011, come with 2730QM processor, 8gb ram ddr3, Kingston ssd 256gb and momentum sansung 500gb. gforce gtx 460m cuda nvidea, windows 7 64 bit home edition.

work fine for the first 4 days but i was getting various error messages that said: "nvidia controller stop working but windows recover sucefully" after some days it reset and give me blue screen i had to restore system to factory default installing again win 7.

After that i upgrade windows and nvidia drivers and all other drivers to latest and again i get the problem, just now i was getting a black screen when i turn on the laptop, in one occasion I was able to enter in windows and hear all but only see a black screen, inclusive I could shut down windows with alt f4 but always seeing a black screen.

Again have to reinstall windows but this time i reinstall with one original win 7 64 bit ultimate that i had. After 2 days working fine and then suddenly when i was browsing in internet it give me again the message: "nvidia controller stop working but windows recover sucefully" 3 times in 10 minutes then reset and get the blue screen.

Now i can not enter to windows only i can enter in safe mode or after disable the nvidia drivers. with the windows default video drivers the laptop seen to work fine, i dont get more errors in that form but the problem is that this window video drivers is too slow and very low resolution too.

Every time I try to install any nvidia driver and restart it give me blues screen tell me that nvlddmnm.sys cause the problem.

I read the instructions you give here and attach the files you asking for, if you need some other thing just ask, and thanks very much in advance for any help or orientation I can get here

Manuel (very disappointed with this 2,500 asus laptop)

Hello,

Try downloading the latest GeForce package from here: Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Extract the drivers, but when the installer starts up, just cancel out of it. Then manually install the drivers via Device Manager: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/97061-driver-install-device-manager.html

ok, i installed 270.61 the lastest nvidia and restart it, and get the same blue screem with same error.

i have the feeling that if i reinstall fresh widnwos again, maybe i can enter windows again with nvidia drivers but i think that after some time i will get again errors, but maybe in the time with out the error we can do something that help. Maybe slow resoluctions, or disable aereo, other kind of think?

just an idea but i will do what you think is next step.

thanks

I was trying to confirm the driver was indeed updated, and the answer is yes. I did see the driver is Stopped because of Safe Mode, but it's certainly been updated.

While using the latest nVidia drivers, reboot the system, and instead of selecting Safe Mode, select "Enable Low Resolution". That will load Windows normally, but at 480x640 resolution (tiny!). The nVidia drivers will be used, so hopefully we can determine whether this is a driver issue or hardware problem.

done

i do as you indicate and put lasted driver and boot in vga mode low resolution with f8 and again i get bsod, but this time i note some diferences, 1 it not autoreset and 2 the laptop fan begin to run fast and made a lot of noise.

i included a new report. this time i made the repor inmediately after bsod, i inter in safe mode and run it in safe mode,

just want to note that i can enter to windows with out safe mode, i first disable lastes nvidia driver in safe mode and restart, then i can enter using the windows standard graphic, in this mode the laptop work fine, exect for the video resolution limited and graphics performance limited too. my others past jcgriff2 report? was made using the standard windows graphics, this one was made in safe mode.

thanks again for your help

ok, so this seen to be a hardware problem?

if yes how sure you are, 80%, 90% ?

i need this info for talk to the person who sell me this laptop?

other question, since the lapto until now work fine (with video limitation) with standard windows graphic do you think is posible it hold in that way or maybe with time the problem we extend and dont allow work the standar windows grapic?

Also if posible to use other standar windows graphic that alow me to put a liter more resolution?

thanks very much for all your help.

The standard Windows driver will only give you the resolution you see; there's no way to increase that unfortunately.

I'd give it 80%, maybe a bit more. One last thing you might try is completely clearing all drivers with Driver Sweeper, and installing the latest ones again.

I believe you tried different version of the nVidia drivers; is this correct? If so, I doubt a future version will correct this but it will never hurt to try.

I honestly don't know how to tell if your video card is onboard or an actual device. Are you comfortable opening up the thing to check?
