Just need to ask i am looking at some asus motherboards one ROG MAXIMUS VI FORMULA LGA 1150 ATX Intel Motherboard and Z87 Pro Socket LGA 1150 ATX Intel Motherboard. The z87 pro has bluetooth and wifi on it. So my ? is this may be a dumb what is the bluetooth and wifi used for on this board ? it well always be hard wired in and well not be moved.
Thing I do are play a lot of BF4 and photo stuff in cs5 and lightroom ,

Hello Emerico,

The Bluetooth could be used to connect say a Bluetooth enabled keyboard and/or mouse to the computer via a wireless Bluetooth connection.

Wi-Fi could be used to connect the computer wirelessly to say your router. Since you will have it wired (Ethernet) instead, then you could also connect any wireless device to your computer as well through that Wi-Fi adapter.

If you don't use those features, then you can usually turn them off in the motherboard's BIOS/UEFI settings to save a bit of electricity and prevent possible unwanted connections. This way you will have them available to turn on if you should need them in the future.

Thanks for the info brink. I am just trying to figure out what would be best for me.

Are Asus ROG boards really any better for gaming or is it more just looks or are they built any better than the others? ,The ROG looks good but I try not to go off looks just the best bang for the buck that I can get, I just like a rocksteddy system that can game well and do some photo editing

The RAM, CPU, and graphics is also going to be a major factor in performance.

It depends on what you want to use above, and what the motherboard will support. Both motherboards below have the same Z87 chipset, so there's not going to be much difference it what either motherboard will support from above.

Personally, unless there's some feature you really need on the Maximus VI, you'll save about $100 going with the Z87 PRO.

Thank I think i well go for the pro board , I well be getting a I7 4770k or a I7 4771.

I would go with I7 4700K to be able to easily overclock it for more performance.

Personally, unless there's some feature you really need on the Maximus VI, you'll save about $100 going with the Z87 PRO.

I'm VERY satisfied with my prior generation P8Z77-V Pro board.

If you don't need WiFi LAN and BlueTooth 4.0, you can save another $25 by going with the V-version of the new Z87 Pro board (which does support BlueTooth 3.0, just not BlueTooth 4.0).

Here's a Newegg comparison of the Z87 Pro and Z87 Pro (V-edition).

If I were building a new machine today, I'd go with this Z87 Pro (V-edition). I notice they've added back a single PS/2 connector on the back in the new board (probably for people like me who still use the old IBM PS/2 keyboard!) which they'd removed in the P8Z77-V Pro board that I currently have.

Just to add another option for you, The is another ROG board which is a fair bit cheaper than the Maximus VI Formula, It's the Maximus VI Hero which is pretty similar in spec's but doesn't have the bluetooth, WiFi or Tuff armour.
