I have an XPS 8100 I just got two months ago. It has had problems with crashing from day one. I have been on the phone with the wonderful customer service of Dell, located somewhere in India, several times. I say wonderful very sarcastically.

First they sent me a new graphics card that has not helped. Then they told me it has to be software or OS related. So, I reinstalled from my OS and started installing programs slowly one by one. Then I installed Firefox... everything is fine.... World of Warcraft... everthing is fine.... itunes... BAM the crashes come back. I am not sure what is causing my BSODs, which to me are more like SNAP, black screen, reboot, request safe mode screen. It seems to happen any time completely randomly, no overheating, fans going crazy just a silent blackout, and then restarting.

Can someone please help me out, I will attempt to attach my dump file.

Pretty straight forward Memory corruption. To test your memory download a 3rd party app called memtestx86, burn it to cd, and run it for at least 7 passes.

I downloaded and installed the memtestx86 and it made it through one pass without any errors. Still not sure what is causing the system to lock up. It has not happened today at least :) yet....

Let it run for about 5 passes, and we can call the RAM ok.
You can also pull out each stick and test them individually.

DELL is also going to want you to run the diagnostics that comes loaded on your PC as well. I'd do what Lordbob and zizgzag said though and run Memtest 5 times minimum.

Another thing is if you did not reseat every connection, RAM chip, card and cable in your PC after you received it I'd suggest removing power, ground yourself and do this, PC's are jostled in transit and you stated it's been problematic from the beginning.
