The upgrade nags will now come to an end?
No more Win 10 solicitations?

Just looked in Windows update and all the updates relating to the 10 upgrade have disappeared from my optional list.... Bliss!

Normal service has resumed!

That is good news. I'm still seeing this optional update:

I can't see that one going away Havoc, that's one of MS new telemetry updates, which was also pushed out to 8.1. Those are here to stay it seems. That one is still in my list, but all the others such as GWX and the full screen nag have vamoosed!

Happy days are here again!!

I'm not celebrating yet. Who knows what MS will try next to get people off win 7 & 8? They already withdrew all but critical support from Skylake users unless they downgrade to Win 10, even though many already had Skylake systems, originally to start Fall of 2017 (after enterprises raised a ruction over it, MS backed off another year). I had been waiting for Skylake-e but, after that stunt, I'm upgrading to Haswell-e; I was afraid to even upgrade to the recently released Broadwell-e (there wasn't much to be gained from Broadwell-e anyway since there wasn't much in the way of new MOBOs; the only real gain was more CPU cores).

I just downloaded all available updates this morning. I do not see anything related to Ten in my System Tray. I still have GWX Control Panel installed however.

Has Win7 update stopped working

for the last 2 days I have tried to download WIN7 updates to my laptop. It is set to do it manually. I had decided to keep WIN7 on the laptop and only upgraded my desktop to WIN 10 to see how things work. On Friday (July 29) it said I had 24 updates to download. Yesterday morning (July 30) it said I had 29 updates to download and both days every time I picked some to download it just spun for a long time and never downloaded them. This morning (July 31) it now says I don't have any updates to download. I thought Windows 7 was supported until 2020?

Windows 7 is now in the extended support phase so will only receive security updates until end of support in 2020

On the skylake processor support. I think you can still use your computer with windows 7 but Microsoft windows update won't provide any skylake patches after the cut off support date for older version of windows. They may or may not patch security vulnerabilities after the cut off date.

Yea sorry does anyone rely on stuff from MS to fix anything cpu wise
I can see if bios... updates from Intel might be a need but not MS.

I want nothing from Microsoft concerning my Asus motherboard or my Intel CPU.
Asus, Intel and me will take care of such things.

I never use MS sources for any driver, except for a first OS load, and they are replaced PDQ. I may use them whist troubleshooting a hardware issue on someone else's system where I do not know the history, but prefer to use drivers direct from the manufacturer or even the component level supplier where there are issues with manufacturers

When I install Windows 7 I let it load what ever drivers it takes to get things going properly.
Once up and running properly I check for drivers as I see fit. I must say that most of Windows 7 loaded drivers installed work just fine with a Clean Install.

Now and again I update Realtec and Nvidia drivers from the manufacture.
