Hi. I have a medeon pc. spec are :

Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 (build 7601)
Install Language: English (United States)
System Locale: English (United Kingdom)
Installed: 17/11/2009 09:47:14
MEDIONPC MS-7366 2.2

Enclosure Type: Desktop

2.50 gigahertz Intel Core2 Quad
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (4 total)
Not hyper-threaded
Board: MEDIONPC MS-7366 2.2
Bus Clock: 333 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. A7366MLN.20Z 07/23/2009

I went to upgrade my graphics card from a NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 to a Asus radeon HD 6670.

When i booted up to install drivers from CD, i got the blue screen saying:
Attempt was made execute to non executable memory. So i rebooted in safe mode and it hung on : Windows\system32\drivers\classpnp.sys.

1. is this card compatable with my pc
2. is there away i can install card and get it to work.

I have reinstalled my old 1 for the time being.

Thx kazzza38

try installing the drivers with your old card installed, then plug the other card in, btw put your system specs under your system specs not in your posts

The normal way to swap graphics cards is:

With the old graphics card in place, uninstall the drivers. Shut down rather than reboot.

If the power supply has a power switch, turn it off. (If not, unplug the PC.)

Exchange the graphics cards.

Power up.

Boot into Windows. You may get the generic VGA drivers with the new card, or drivers that came with Windows.

Install the drivers for the new card.

Hi. Well after spending allday doing what Bobkn said and pedroc1999. I'm still no better off. It still comes up with a blue screen within 30sec saying "Attempt was made to execute to non executable memory."

I even tried reloading windows from the recovery disc and putting the Asus driver cd in when prompted for the driver cd to see if i could load the drivers from there. But every file i clicked on it said this isnt the 1 you want for your hardware. I tried manually loading all the programs on the cd just after i deleted the old drivers, bit for some reason smart doctor didnt find them. After that message. I didnt have time to try the driver cd again b4 i got the blue screen and it restarted.

Dont know if you guys have anymore info to give?

thx kazzza

If you did a fresh install of Windows and the latest drivers for the new card (from www.amd.com; they probably wouldn't be on the driver CD that shipped with the PC), and you're still getting bluescreens, it sounds like it's beyond my abilities to diagnose. If you can find another PC the check the card in, that may be worth trying.

"Attempt was made to execute to non executable memory" sounds like a hardware problem with the PC itself, but I can't explain why it would happen with the new card and not the old.

i didnt do a total fresh install. I just had to use the recovery cd to get to be able to restore to previous point. the blue screen only comes up with that new card. Maybe it's not compatable after all with the pc. But then again it must be cos i read on a forum someone whos installed it on their pc thats the exact same as mine. See if pc world will have it back, Thx anyway for all your help.
