I just downloaded a driver package from Realtek, these are for WIN 7 and they seem to have added some speed.

I will add them here but if that is not allowed, I understand that they will be removed. I have checked them for Viruses too.

Installed. Unfortunately, my local area connection status still shows 100.0 Mbps speed. Another computer on my local network with a Gig NIC is showing 1Gb on the status screen, so I don't understand why this one doesn't.

I know this is an old thread, but i'am in the same situation.

I cant get my nic to 1 gbps.
my server runs fine on max speed, and my workstation it had worked prefect before.
Now its pending between 100mbps and 10mbps!!!

If anyone have any tip i would be mostly greatful!

ill assume you have switches/routers/network cards 1gbit. Then there only could be one reason, cables. Even if cable is cat5e, that should support speeds up to 1gbit, that is not always the case. At my home i had basicaly 2 "brands" (bottom line 2 different ones) of cat5e cables. "Old" ones from couple of years ago that most of house is wired with, supports 1gbit speeds easy. Also have transfers over networks with about 60MB/s (HDs starts to become bottleneck). However then i bought some cable a year and half ago to wire extra room and even tho it was cat5e it does not do 1gbit speeds. So at the end i ended up "useing" some extra cable that i had in the wall from the "old" days and used that. So if you are sure all hardware supports 1gbit, try to change cables!

Well, i found some info on asus forum last night which is pointing to that its something wrong in the "Asus rampage II gene" motherboard.
I have that board, and it uses Realtek 8111C network chip.
My computer and server are connected with cat6 cabels to my netgear gs105 gigabit switch.

Everything did worked for some time ago, and I dont exactly know when the speed dropped.
It could be a bios upgrade
It could be a windows update (using W7 ultimate, x64)
It could be the motherbord, I changed to Asus rampage II gene board when my older DFi board burned up.
