'New Shortcut' Option Missing

Hello all:
I'm needing to create a shortcut, but the context menu that normally lists 'new shortcut' is missing. If it were just a shorcut to an exe or something I would just copy and past link, but I'm needing to create a shortcut for 'RunDll32 DwmApi #105'. But I can't seem to do that. I haven't made any changes to my system, so there should be no problems.

Any comments/help/suggestions would be most appreciated!

That didn't seem to help anything, even after restarting the machine. What next?

Do you have the New or Create shortcut option in the context menu?

You can see if downloading and merging the lnk (LNK) download in the tutorial below may be able to help. It restores all default settings and associations for shortcuts including New - Shortcut.

I also tried this, to no avail. I'm getting really concerned now. I use xplorer2 for my file manager, but I've been checking in Windows Explorer as well to see if any changes have been made.... but no.

Well, other than doing a system restore using a restore point dated before it went missing, you could do a repair install without losing anything to restore it.

A repair install is an option that I will consider, but I have to decide now if it's worth the effort just to get this shortcut back. I'm hesitant to do "big" operations like that.

Just be sure to backup anything that you do not want to lose to be on the safe side.
