New UD5h build does not boot up properly, even into the BIOS

Clearing CMOS is done while off. You even need to unplug the powerline from the wall or UPS if any. You don't actually need to wait for 3 hours (my opinion) but the guys said that. Some even just do it by taking out the CMOS battery for 10 second and put it back, then all reset back to factory default. That is just based on my own experience.

Yup don't have to wait 3 hours

Just power down move the PSU switch unplug wait a few then yank it out then put it right back simple

This helps if you can't boot after overclocking ram :geek:

I don't know if you tryed to install the OS with out the video card installed but sometimes that is a issue try to install without the GPU then if it runs install it later

Sometimes these boards are funny about those things .......

Intel says 15 minutes for the CMOS memory (BIOS) reset by removing the battery.

This motherboard has dual BIOS'. He's tried both so I don't think its a BIOS (UEFI) problem.

Now I definitely do not know what is happening. I did the wait for 3hours and after 4 reboots it actually worked. For one of the boot there was 07 on the board which isn't even in the Manual. For another (I tried installing windows 7) there was a blue screen with CPU error. But after those I was able to install windows 7, install firefox, update etc. It ran normally. Then i went to check the BIOS, and turned virtualization on and changed boot order. After that it is now messed up again.
If changing anything in the BIOS will make it mess up then is that the motherboards fault?
Should I flash my BIOS? I am still on the first (F5) one and there have been 3 newer ones on the Gigabyte site.

This might sound like a silly question, but do you have all of the necessary/required power cables connected to the motherboard?

I was actually about to feel happy when started reading your post. But again you got in those trouble.

- Have you checked the supplied voltage of CPU and RAM. Are they in normal range?
- Better check out with you installation disk also, was there any event or warning during installation?

I have also an old UD2H Gigabyte that gave me those trouble then retired it. But your Mobo is among the best product. Need more matters to investigate.

It is now Monday. ;)

If you've verified all of the hardware is installed correctly (thermal paste is correct, CPU seated, etc), and you've gone down to a single stick of RAM and removed all non-essential hardware and tested for stability (and things still don't work), then I would contact Gigabyte and request an RMA.

You should also check out Tweaktown. They have a dedicated Gigabyte forum that has manufacturer input. They may be able to assist.

ok, wow this is weird. i tried the clr cmos again but this time for 30 minutes. it took 3 reboots but now works. i just finished installing windows 7 sp1(ssd helped). this is really bugging me. so if changing the BIOS is the fault then what do i do?
i want virtualization on and 3770 does support it but the default is off for some reason.

Ok, i have checked the website it has basic warning on flashing.
'If there is no problem then do not flash.'
I checked the CPU support list and found that the ivy's are not supported on F5 BIOS but instead F6.
So if i do flash (which is likely), do I go with the latest or with F6?

F8 is the latest BIOS update. I updated mine last week without problems. I had an issue with the keyboard and it fixed the problem.

GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-Z77X-UD5H (rev. 1.0)

I used the @BIOS utility to update.

Yeah, I used the @BIOS yesterday night. But I updated to F6. If that's all I need then then I was ok with it. But if there are problems with this then I will update to the latest. So do you think I will be able to change settings in the BIOS now?

You should be able to change the UEFI BIOS settings. If you run into a problem, you can reset the BIOS and get it back to where you are now.

My motherboard was at BIOS version 6 when I got it. F7 fixed a keyboard problem but I went all the way to the latest F8 when I updated.

I am not able to enable virtualization in the BIOS. And so far the CLR CMOS does not seem to work, time to try again!

*I have tried the CMOS method which seemed to work twice before but now does not work. The only difference being the F6 BIOS
