New web browsers don't work!

This is a really interesting - and now, annoying - problem I'm currently having in windows 7. Whenever I install a new Internet browser, it stops working (it can't connect to the Internet). So I recently updated firefox and now I can't connect with it. Same thing with Opera, I'm stuck with using an old version I installed or IE (eek).

I upgraded from Vista (the browsers I had installed on Vista are the ones that worked)

Is anyone familiar with this problem? If so, what can I do to fix it? Thanks!

Sadly, all bets are off when you use "upgrade" feature. I would recommend a clean install to get the best out of Windows 7.
