Newly installed 7 64 bit slow web page loading...

First of all, hello, I'm new to the forum and am hoping someone can help me because I'm at the point of giving up!

I just installed two new Windows 7 computers with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
When opening Internet Explorer the home page displays instantly but then if i try and visit other pages (even something as simple as Google) the pages take an age to display.
I thought it might have just been the connection but if i try the same pages on a Windows XP machine or on my Mac, they display a lot quicker.

Has anyone else heard of this problem and if so is there a resolution?

Have you done all windows updates?

And have you tried using a different browser such as Chrome/firefox/opera to see if the same happens? That way it can rule out internet explorer at least.

I honestly never thought of checking for driver updates because we have the same problem with the two Windows Vista laptops we have.
I have however tried Windows updates but it fails to connect and gives an error code, which incidentally when clicked, takes me to a web page....which doesn't load or does so but only partially.

I heard there are differences in "networking" with Vista and 7 compared to other version such as XP. Has anyone else heard this or know what these differences are??

Have you done all windows updates?

And have you tried using a different browser such as Chrome/firefox/opera to see if the same happens? That way it can rule out internet explorer at least.

+1 to trying a different browser, Chrome runs much faster on my machine compared to IE.

I say 'can'...hopefully you will be able to load the page!

Are these windows 7 machines connecting by wireless or wired connections? Do you have a router or a modem or shared internet connection?

If wired:
Do you have any hubs, switches or other network topography in between the internet and your ethernet card?
Have you checked for any damage on the cables, are they running near anything hot that could have damaged them?

If wireless:
What distance are you from your access point?
Whats in between you and the access point, is it just walls, or are there fireplaces/other large objects?
Do you have any wireless phones, microwaves or other equipment that could interfere with your wireless signal on its path?
What channel is your wireless running on, have you tried another channel?

Answer these and we might get a little closer to the source of the problem!

Thanks for the reply, these particular computers are running on a wired network but the two Vista laptops with exactly the same problem are wireless.
All of the computers share an Internet connection, and as far as im aware it goes:

PC > ethernet port in the wall > patch panel > switch port > switch linked to ASA > ASA linked to router > router plugged into BT phone line.

I have ruled out a problem with the connection as far as the switch but now i am beginning to think it may be a problem with the ASA and Windows 7 working together...or not working together as the case may be!
There are 26 PCs on the network, 24 of which run Windows XP and the other two Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. The XP ones are fine and browse like there's no tomorrow.

It sounds to me more like a network issue rather than Windows 7. Can you test one of the 7 machines to a Public network to see if they browse better? Check your homegroup settings as well. We use Microsoft ISA Firewall and if the homegroup is set to Public vs Work certain plugins and apps will not load correctly.

Also try taking one of the machines with the fault and plugging it directly into your 'router plugged into bt phone line' while the other computers are off. Then try the other laptop and see if you still get the problem. If you dont try with both on, hard wired (Ethernet) to the router.
What security are you using for wireless on your network, and which router do is your wireless access point?

Also have you downloaded all the latest network drivers from your manufacturers website?
