Newly installed windows 7 no usb drive detected

I have just bought a new ssd since my hdd just died. I just installed windows 7 but I couldn’t find my drivers in the cds from the hardware packages (bought in 2016) so I had to download them to my android phone and transfer them to a usb flash drive. When I plugged them they couldn’t be detected but in the bios they register. I thought that it’s because the driver isn’t installed yet but I saw in a youtube video of Newegg that usb v2.0 don’t need drivers to work, but when I plugged it in a usb v2.0 port it still wouldn’t work. What should I do? I haven’t installed any drivers at all.

Is your computer a factory-brand one or a self-built one?

If it's a factory-brand one, advise us what brand name and model name and model number and serial number it is.

If it's a self-built one, advise us what brand name and model number its motherboard is.

Also advise us if you installed Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit, and if it includes Service Pack 1.

Yes I see - the manual states that Windows 7 OS requires USB drivers to be pre-loaded, in order for the USB keyboard and mouse to work.

This will be because the Motherboard chipset is USB 3.0 only (backward compatible with USB 2.0), so you are required to pre-install USB 3.0 chipset drivers first.

If the motherboard had a USB 2.0 chipset, then there would not be this problem with Windows 7 install.

If you had ASUS DVD, then you could obtain required drivers there. Otherwise, you need to download drivers from ASUS website, and burn to DVD.

Alternatively, you can use the PS/2 port for keyboard and mouse, if you had suitable connector.

Alternatively, buy a USB 2.0 expansion card, and do the install via the expansion card.

iko22 It’s weird cause my keyboard and mouse are detected and functioning but it can’t detect the usb flash drive even if I plug it to the 2.0 ports.

The problem is there is no way for me to burn the drivers onto a cd.

By buying an expansion card do you mean that I’d benefit because of the provided driver?

What makes you think you got USB 2.0 ports? According to H110m-d, the board has only USB 3.0 ports (front/rear).

Having said that, it is strange that the keyboard and mouse actually work. The manual states that they would not work at all, until the proper drivers are installed.

Yes, that is what I mean. It might be the easiest solution, especially if you are unable to burn DVD.

Unzip the drivers. Open dism++, click Drivers in left pane. Click ADD. Browse to the driver folder you just extracted.

That’s a very nice tool, unfortunately however I don’t have another pc to mount the drivers. I also have a windows cd installer not a flash drive installer.

can't you download dism++ and the drivers from the above posts directly?

If your mouse is working you can do it from within your running windows.

The Win 7 installation disk doesn't have the USB drivers required for H110 Chipset.

Once you boot into win 7, do you have keyboard?

Do you have a Win 10 installation drive (DVD or USB)?
