It's not a huge problem, but just found out the WIN 7 audio driver for my HP notebook Pavilion dv2312us will not be available for another 2-3 months. Using the current driver, I get a POP sound when it goes into sleep mode or shuts down. I also don't have a mute function. I hope the POP sound is not damaging to the computer.

I was on the driver page for this computer and the Win 7 audio driver is not listed. So then I went into a chat - he gave me a driver that wasn't compatible at all. Had to go back to my other generic IDT driver which causes problems above. FWIW.

Hi Cherivo! Conexant High Definition Audio Driver HP Pavilion dv2312us Notebook PC - HP technical support (United Kingdom - English) Is this by any chance the Support recommended? If not, try it! Windows 7's compatibility with Vista Drivers is EXCELLENT!

Thanks,

If I helped, please rep me!

Perfect!

OH EM GEE... (as my 12 yo would say) This driver worked! No pop, and my mute is back! So the moral of the story with Windows 7 is... use Vista drivers when no others are available? I should have tried that. I don't know why this wasn't the one that was provided from HP when I installed Win 7. When I did the upgrade, Microsoft just guesses as to which drivers you need if the specific ones aren't available? Why wouldn't they have provided this one? I'm trying to understand all of this... Thank you, thank you. Even HP tech support wasn't able to do this.
