No Audio Output device is installed! no sound! :(

Hello everyone, i have seen this posted before but my problem is a little different. I can not even find what my sound card is or where it is. I have looked and looked and there is nothing on my computer to show it has a sound card. It did indeed work before i upgraded to 7 so it has to be there. It is a Gateway laptop MX6440. Thanks for any help!!

Welcome to seven forums Solidsimpson: Just a suggestion. Go to Gateway site and update all the drivers you can. If no 7 drivers are available Vista will do in compatibility mode http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html Without knowing what sound device you have it is virtually impossible to point you to a solution. You might also want to go to device manager and copy and paste a screen shot of your device manager, so we can see what your seeing.Thanks Fabe

Note that there is only 32-bit support. The driver you want is Windows Vista Audio Driver version: Conexant 6.14.10.0575

Wow! Thanks a lot guys! So 7 isnt really supported by this computer? I ended up re- installing Vista and then updating that sound driver. Thanks for all of the amazing help!
