No Boot Up After Windows Update Freezes

Hello, I recently ran the windows update, and it froze about halfway through the installation (I have Windows 7 Ultimate x32). When I went to restart my computer, it did not load windows and the monitor failed to display anything, saying there was no signal. I use a dual monitor setup, so I disconnected one of them, plus my printer and external hard drive, and tried again. I got the same result with the monitor getting no signal. I tried using the windows 7 installation DVD to possibly repair the problem, but this did not work, except for one time when I disconnected the power plug and held the on button for ~30 seconds. When I plugged the power back in, it started and I was able to select to start windows normally (which in hindsight, I probably shouldn't have). However, when I got to the login screen, it froze after ten seconds. When I restarted it this time, I started experiencing the same problem as before, with the monitor saying no signal, even when the computer was left on for some time.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Welcome to Seven Forums and Happy Holidays - although the systems playing up :)

Have you tried booting again and choosing Last Known Good configuration instead of start normally?
Try a full power down>shut down and turn off at the power switch, wait a couple of minutes then reconnect the power and try again

Keep us posted on how things turn out

Edit

Sneaky, living up to his name, beat me to it :p

Thanks for your replies. I have tried what you suggested, but I am unable to get to the windows configuration screen. The computer will start up, but the monitor continues to not get any signal. Should I wait a few days before trying again?

I can't access any of the start or recovery options that would be displayed before windows is initialized. My computer will "turn on," but will not continue with its boot up sequence showing the manufacturer and the components installed.

Can you get into the BIOS settings?
