No connections are available - but I am connected?

A windows update came through yesterday and I delayed the reboot as I was working on stuff.
The initial issue was getting the following error on my wife's user account 'group policy client failed the login'

A reboot sorted this, but immediately following the reboot I have another issue;

The network and sharing centre indicates with a red cross that no connections are available and yet I am fully connected and have access to internet and email etc.

In the Sharing centre under 'Change adapter settings' I have only Local area connection

After something I read elsewhere I have tried disabling and re enabling this, I have tried with antivirus disabled and have rebooted again, but still the same issue.

Thank you

That looks normal.

I'm not sure what else too try.
Let's see what others have to say.
