No connections are available Windows 7 x64

Hi, I recently moved my computer that used to be plugged with an ethernet cable but I took it out because I moved somewhere else and my router is a floor lower than mine. The wifi is wireless like I can connect on my phone and my family members desktop works perfectly. When i tried to trouble shoot the no connections are available it said plug in an ethernet cable. I went to network and sharing center then to change adapter settings over the the left all there is is a Realtek PCle GBE Family Controller which is enabled and I've tried disabled and trouble shooting but that also doesn't work. I have also tried typing run in the search and putting services.msc and changed the weird auto config to automatic and status is started WLAN auto config to automatic and status started and also WWAN autoconfog to automatic status started thinking that would help with the wireless issue. This whole time since i moved the PC to a different location i had no wifi obviously and the wiring is done perfectly no mistakes. I really need help fixing this very very soon. I also went to manage wireless networks and under the title it says wireless is not currently enabled and if I try to click add it says windows cannot detect any wireless network interfaces. I have been using the router for about 2 years now and the problem isn't there trust me. Very appreciate it if anyone could help me.

I'm having the same problem Cannot detect any wireless network interfaces error - Windows 7 Help Forums, try downloading the wifi drivers from the manufacturers website, if that doesn't work and you need to use your computer urgently then duel boot ubuntu and use that until you're able to get windows 7's wifi to work. If I find a solution for my laptop I'll inform you.

CanadianFighter As you have a desktop it is quite normal to only have an ethernet connection for network connection...
there are various options open to you

Option 1 is to run a suitable ethernet cable from the router to your new location - Hard work and expensive but most reliable
Option 2 is to add a wireless interface to your computer, you will need to open the case and install a specialist card so this is not the simplest method. -Less work and less expensive, reliable depending on physical layout.
Option 3 is to add a USB "Dongle" to your computer which will provide WiFi to your system - Simple to Do, similar reliability to option 2 but less work, cost can vary depending on the specification of your router and actual distances involved, but this is my recommendation.

I would check your PC specification first to check if you actually have a wireless option on the motherboard that is simply switched off. If this is not the case check the spec of your router and discover what Wi-Fi it broadcasts I would imagine that a two year old device would support at least 802.1n Wi-Fi and maybe 802.1ac networking . When looking to purchase a dongle get one with the same or higher spec as they are compatible with earlier formats. Also if check if your router supports Dual Band, (2.4MHz and 5MHz), and if so go for a dongle that also supports this - I would actually recommend that you look at a dongle that supports all the latest options as it will last longer as things progress.

This is a dongle that I purchased myself recently for occasional use that gives an idea of the devices available (ignore the "was Price " - this is UK amazon but your local US/CA suppliers should have lots of options

if you do not have the manual for the PC then It may be available OnLine or you could go into your Bios and see if there are any entries relating to WiFi, on a desktop where Wired connections are the norm, WiFi options are often disabled if fitted, (an active unused WiFi signal could be seen as a security risk)

you only state that you have an LG PC Desktop, so I would suggest that the LG website would be the best place to start, but you would need the full model Name/Number to find exact info.

However from your first post

I believe that you probably do not have any WiFi built in to your Desktop

When you boot up your PC you should see an entry such as "press DEL to enter Settings" or similar, (this is before the first windows logo), this will allow you to check exactly what the computer has fitted at the lowest level, but only go this deep if you feel confident. I would suggest that If you are not sure you assume there is not any WiFi available and look at obtaining the best USB option you can afford which should get you back online in minutes
