No end in sight

Even my Gigabyte B250M-D3H motherboard that I bought in April had drivers for W7 - and despite hinting that they were for 6th Generation processors only and not 7th they work perfectly - no missing drivers in Device Manager. There's even updated drivers for W7 on their website. I think Gigabyte realized they were going to lose a lot of sales if they didn't support W7 on 7th Generation processors.
I had read somewhere that motherboard makers had released drivers to circumvent MS' corporate garbage.
It just proves there were no technical issues at all, despite MS' claims.

I will keep using W7 as long as I possibly can. I have W10 already "registered" on this machine with the "free upgrade". If I am eventually forced onto W10 it will be a dual boot W10/Linux setup with W10 kept offline (after activating it, of course) and using Linux for all online activities.
Just like XP, I'll run W7 until there's no hardware available that will accept it (BTW, I notice that the World didn't end in April 2014).

In fact, I have various XP & W7 VMs so I guess I'll be able to run them forever.

I have W10 Home on my laptop (I dread turning it on, because MS may randomly brick it).
Every third time I start it, it auto-connects to the network despite being told not to.

I also have a W10 Pro VM which I run in VMware Player on a Linux Mint Host.
It's the only safe way to run the horrible thing, as you can block the network.

They just make all these software "problem" things. As long as an OS is not yet EOL, they should have support for it. This should apply to laptop manufacturers as well.

Running a fully up to date Windows 7 Professional here (well, minus the processor blocking update MS released earlier this year) on a Kaby Lake system without any issues.
Likewise! In my case, I installed Win7 on a Kaby Lake Inspiron 15 laptop. Took me two days of research and searching for drivers to clear the "Unknown" devices, but all works well now.

Initially, I got the "Unsupported hardware" message from Windows Update, but after applying the wufuc patch WU works normally.

While not dreading running mine on I do find rather distasteful the way they can actually shut down your machine like mine was two nights ago for then to install an update. Now this was extremely annoying and lucky I was only in the middle of emailing a friend but how about if I had been in the middle of a banking session or business deal frankly that stinks one should get some sort of warning to give yourself time to save what you are doing and be able to take up again when they had finished.

It's a bit like having a burglar boarding at your house and just taking stuff as and when he decided go and sell it and then return to his room and wait for the next opportunity to use your house as he pleases..

I've often commented that an individual would be arrested and sent to prison, If they:

  • Followed someone around with a video camera 24/7, like Google, MS, etc. do
  • Came into your house and broke your stuff, like Google, MS, etc. do
  • Put spyware into children's toys, like Google, MS, etc. do

Yes mate couldn't have put it better I often feel they have someone sitting next to me watching what I do and drink and eat while I tap away on the machines.
