No Internet sometimes

Hello at my school I been working at in the library there are two computers out of ten that have this problem. Sometimes they get Internet sometimes they don't. The always stay connected to the are local sever but it disconnects from the internet I've tried a different switch and it did the same thing. So doses anyone have any ideas?

Bad Ethernet cable?

Not enough bandwidth?

Driver Update needed for Network Controller?

Those are just guesses, but likely you need to check for tone on the lines and trace the issue if there is no tone at the PC end. If there is tone at the PC end then you likely need to install or update the Network Controller.

Are all the computers identical i.e. have same network card etc and same OS. ? Has this problem just happened when before they connected reliably to the internet. ?

Changed the cable,checked for a driver update, I know that we have the bandwidth. Also some of the computers are the same but not all of them.

Have you checked for tone?

EDIT: It could be a failing router....

I have not checked the tone yet. I don't think it's a router because it connects in to another switch that connects it to the network.

Check for tone first. Since it is happening on multiple PCs on the same router and switch, it's very likely to be network related and not PC related.
