No options on login screen; cannot login

The background image is mostly horizontally stretched and there is no login prompt either. In fact, there's nothing but the stretched background image and stretched mouse cursor.

Any attempt to start in safe mode results in returning to the lone stretched loging screen. F8 repairs, trouble shoots.., everything one can possibly do before startup yields to the same result as far as I have experienced.

So, any leads on this?
I'm just trying to login to export some files and then move on at most.

Welcome to the forum. Try pressing cntrl alt del on the screen does that bring up login?

Nothing. From the basic key combinations I know there has been no effect.

Hi KOSM,

can you boot to your Bios, reset it to boot from CD first
reboot (insert your W7 disc first)

then work your way to the System repair option.


Hope the Bios screens not horizontal

Ha, the Bios works fine but I do not have a CD to boot from as it wasn't provided with my purchase.

Under BIOS you probably have the Dell repair tools.
Try the System repair option.

If your running Pro follow this link to create an Iso/Usb

Access Denied
(AAARGH link has been renamed -- goes directly to Dell)

If Home or other then try Heidoc.
