Solved no search,refresh,show hidden files

my computer will not refresh desktop or any other folders, cannot use search i can type but it does not search,control panel is white and there is not folder options so that i cannot show/hide hidden files and folders and command prompt will also not appear

command prompt wont open and there is no properties in my computer. When i right click on my computer there are only two options open and manage

Samuel mate try opening in safe mode and running those scans.

Power off > Power on > and tap F8 as it powers up from completely off. It will give you options pick the Safe mode it will load only the essential Windows files and allow you to carry on with the basic stuff.

If it will not go into safe mode then we have a problem!

yes my computer opens at safe mode but the problem is same. I cannot open run,search,and copy paste or move or send folders. I also cannot open properties of any folder or rename them.I have important files at my pc so i cannot format if please help me

You also have what indicates a possible infection.

Do you have a good antivirus? (If you already have one you do not need to install avast)

You might want to run a scan with malwarebytes and Avast and let us know what you find. You can find them in my signature.

i don't have any antivirus in my computer. i had avast and then i try to update it after 20 mb of update it does not update, it says server error

If you still have avast installed and it cant update, do the following:

Download the definitions files manually from: avast! Software Updates | Download Latest Virus Database Updates

Click the top download button.

If you do not have avast installed any more, download Panda antivirus and malwarebytes. Run a full scan and report any findings.

May I respectively advise too Andrew that the OP uninstalls the other stuff first before it gets bogged down.

What I was going to suggest was uninstalling the Avast using the removal tool avast! Uninstall Utility | Download aswClear for avast! Removal and then reinstall it and maybe the updates will come down with it??

Installed what? Malwarebytes and panda?

i had installed avast and i did boot scan then it does not find any error file on my computer but it isn't updated version so i uninstalled it again please give me a link so that i can download good antivirus and also give me its registration number i have so much difficulty being antivirus out of date. And i also have some old antivirus software i.e avast, eset & avg but i have not installed any one of them currently so i have no antivirus in my computer
