Greetings all. I've got Win7 Home Premium SP1. I'm trying to zip up files for archiving, but the "Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder" option is missing from my file menu. I've done tons of research and seen a lot of potential fixes, but none that I've seen are working for me.

I do have the folder.ZFSendToTarget file in my SendTo folder, containing the single word "Zip". It is not hidden. This is supposed to cause that option to show up in my menu, but it's not, and I have no idea why.

I ran "sfc /scannow" - no integrity problems were found.

I can unzip programs no problem - the system recognizes .zip files and opens them as per normal behavior.

One thing I can't seem to find out is - what's the name of the service/app that Windows runs to zip and unzip files? The folder.ZFSendToTarget file implies that there's some program called "Zip" somewhere - but I'm not sure where it's supposed to be, so not sure how to check to see if it might be missing.

Any help is appreciated - thanks.

If you type shell:sendto in start menu search and open that result is the compressed (Zipped) Folder there like in this pic?

If not, you can download it from option two, number 1, and follow the instructions starting at number 6,

Where is that folder located? The one I mention above is a normally hidden folder (AppData).

>> I got the information on that from this discussion on the MS Technet forums. That folder is as described, in C:\Users\(myuserid)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo. I've seen several mentions online that that file should not be Hidden - several people said that it was Hidden, and when they changed it to not Hidden, their problem went away (the zip option then showed up).

Indeed the high-level "AppData" folder itself is Hidden. (I've got "show hidden files..." checked so I can see such things). Surely AppData itself should remain Hidden - right?

Thanks for the help.
