No Sound Anomaly

I'm curious about this: Yesterday, no sound. Windows built-in trouble shooter found no problem. Rebooting fixed whatever it was that was preventing sound. Any idea(s) as to what may have caused this anomalous behvior?

I might be able to give you some idea, if it was windows sounds all together, sounds like a driver just didn't load for some reason or another.

Odds are any specific diagnosis will not happen.
You could look over the application logs to see if something froze at the time you experienced the problem.

...that's about it though.

Thanks, that is the type of input I was seeking, and is why I started out by saying that I was curious about the incident. I was not, nor am I, overly concerned, even though I've never encountered such a problem in over twenty years of computing, just puzzled bu it.

We won't, however, discuss the fact that I am always puzzled....

I also have such a problem! cca from 5 starts of win, i got no sound in win 7 (64bit) at speakers output, but there is sound in front output for headphones! after reinstal driver for sound it helps but its anoiing to istal driver everytime
Please help!

meareck my motherboard came with it's own audio card. In the bios it allows you to adjust the method of output for the front panel. It defaults to a different codec than the rear panel plugs. Is it possible you are dealing with a similar issue?

i dont know what is problem, in win xp i dont have such a problem, just in win 7, and it appears just sometimes, acurately: after instal driver it works cca 6 times (starts) and on 7th start of win7 its witohut sound on speakers output (rear)
PS: analyzer in speaker icon shows sound is working, and also there is sound in front pluch for headfones.

is there any chance you could click on my sig and follow those instructions? You most likely don't have any dump files, but a look at your system event and error logs might shed some light on what's going on.

for front pannel i got two points to choose: AC 97 and HD, so i change it to AC97, but its not so clear to me what relation got adjustment of FP with speakers output? Anyway thanks for reply
