I just upgraded my computer Mac-Mini OS from Windows xp 32bit to Windows 7 Professional 64bit. When I had Windows xp I had sound, but since the upgrade there is a red circle with a white x over my speaker at the bottom right of the screen and when I put my mouse pointer over the speaker with the red circle and white x over it-- it says "No Audio Output Device is installed".... I have tried everything from troubleshooting, and seeing if the drivers needed to be updated and it says the drivers are working properly and don't need to updated. I am not that computer savvy so I'm not sure if I am looking in the right places. I cant find where it says to look under Device Manager for sound, video and game controllers, my computer says "system speaker" -- I think that's where I am suppose to look for problems with audio?? But anyway I had sound up until I installed the Windows 7. Does anybody have any idea how I can get my sound/audio back?

No AUDIO, Red Circle with White x over speaker

Hi rvcjew,
Being that I don't know much about computers I did find I am running my Windows 7 Pro OS with Bootcamp Assistant. I have audio on the Mac side, but not the Windows 7 Pro side. I installed a driver support and it says I have A LOT of drivers out of date. It does say my audio drivers, which is Realtek High Definition Audio Device needs to be updated. I am scared to install NEW drivers because I am afraid of messing up my computer. But your answer led me in the right direction:D. Thank you! Do you have any advice before I install these new drivers to my computer? I've installed things in the past and messed my computer up.

Thanks,
Sarahjj

Once you have newer support drivers then update to latest realtek when in bootcamp (windows). What program did you use to find what drivers are out of date as most times they are wrong and mess up your computer more. Can you post a screenshot of the program and what it found, and a pic of the about mac more info section of the mini.

Hi rvcjew,
Well here are screenshots of what you asked for. And thank you so much for trying to help me. I have no idea what I am doing…I got the Driver Support from Realtek website and I haven't updated any of those drivers it says are out of date because I am not sure if its safe to do so…
Thanks,
Sarahjj

Ok yeah that program is kinda wack, what you should do is first run the support software from apple in the windows install it self as it should be an exe. It should update you to latest drivers that apple is supporting for that machine for windows, then in windows it self since you have basically an all intel system use this tool to check if it finds anything to actually update. Intel® Driver Update Utility

EDIT: this is the one for the mac mini http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1720 the one I linked before might be not for the mini mid 2011.

Hi again,
Okay, I will try all that. I am glad I didn't just go ahead and use that other website to update the drivers. I will let you know what happens. I am a college student so I need audio (on the Windows side of course) to watch tutorials for MS Office 2013 Programs with SNAP Paradigm Publishing and web conferences with my instructor for online classes. I haven't been able to do any of that do to no AUDIO…
Thanks,
Sarahjj
