No wallpaper Black screen desktop after update

Hi,
I have a Windows 7 Ultimate desktop pc.To save download bandwidth (internet is not unlimited plan) and as read on the net that windows update slows down the pc I switched of automatic windows update.But recently the automatic update was switched on accidentally by another user in my house.Ever since the update has taken place I am getting a black screen on the desktop.I cannot see any wallpaper.Even tried changing the wallpaper and the theme but nothing happens.Please help me remove the black screen.

You should always keep Windows Update on and set to Automatic. Install all Important and Optional Updates for best performance and security.

Hey darrylco76, It seems like that KB971033 update for WAT (Windows activation update) was installed on your PC. Also, the Win copy that you are using might not be genuine. Hence, you are getting this black screen.

MGADiag tool checks if the Windows you are using is genuine or not.

I had paid ten thousand extra for genuine copy of installation.the dealer explained the price saying that he would be installing a Volume license key.
As said my user "z3r010" my pc has a pirated windows version.So maybe in the update that was detected.I would like to know that what exactly has happened to my pc.
Has my activation been deactivated or something else?
If yes what would be the consequences of it?
Would windows stop working?
If I purchase a genuine copy to fix the problem do I have to reformat the windows system drive and carry out fresh installation?

The dealer sold you a counterfeit copy, cracked by an activation exploit. The procedure is to contact MS Customer service India from http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ln=en-in#find_store, report the piracy, cooperate with their investigation which may earn you a free copy of the OS if they are convinced you were the victim here.

Please let us know how this process transpires in your country.

my bad luck

its my bad luck that i do not have a purchase bill of the OS to complain.Receipt only states details of the assemble pc.The dealer said that bill of the os cannot be given as a volume license was procured for installation on multiple pc as it turns out to be cheaper.Anyways does my windows stop working in some days.If I bye new os do I have to format and do clean install?

I would Clean Reinstall following the same steps in the blue link to get a perfect install. You never know what's been added to a counterfeit copy.

But if it works well for you then you can try inserting a purchased Product Key for the licensed version at Computer>Properties or using an Elevated Command Prompt to run the insert Product Key command from SLMgr Commands and Option. .

You should be able to insert a new Product Key for that version of Win7 at Computer>Properties activation link. If not you can do it from the Command Line following SLMgr Commands and Options « My Digital Life.

But who knows what else might have been added to your OS by pirates, so if you want to start over I'd follow these same steps to achieve a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which compile everything that works best to get and keep a perfect install.
