First of all, have you been visiting compaq's web page and downloaded the software from their homepage?
..for the right model?
I know that some computers are really weird that they require exactly the right driver from the builder (and not the manufacturer of the card)

2, you haven't turned of the wifi with the button on your computer?

Hi scorpion,

Have you tried a System Restore?

Open up a command prompt then Copy and Paste these
ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt Please attach the .txt file to be found in your Local Disk 'C' in your next post.

Please post your progress.

I wanted to see the ipconfig /all just to make sure that your wireless network adapter is not in your Device Manager and it's obvious. Thanks for the info.
I have Broadcom 802.11 Network Adapter installed but doesnt show in Device Manager
Have you tried downloading the updated driver for your Broadcom and see if that one will install?

Also, you might want to try to borrow if possible a USB wireless network adapter and see if that will install.

Do you have another PC to try that broadcom network adapter in? It may have failed, trying it in another PC would confirm its a hardware fault and not a software/driver problem.

I think that it'll be a good idea to just buy a new wireless network adapter. Just a thought.:D

You may also try a Repair Installation.
