I'm tired of trying to get Creative cards (like the X-Fi XtremeGamer) to work reliably with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (on a new install, after manually installing the drivers because Creative's installer fails consistently. Now the update called for by Windows Update also fails because "Setup is unable to identify a supported device...).
I found the X-Fi from the Microsoft webpage of supported devices, so i figure MS is useless for product selection. What other, non-Creative Labs sound cards or USB devices are fully supported (as reported by actual users, not as recommended by Microsoft...) on Windows 7 x64?
