Thanks Jacee. The restart appears to fix the error message. Maybe there was some default option selected to automatically update Norton that I was unaware of but I am still very unimpressed that Norton didn't even advise that a significant automatic update would happen. A user may wonder if "Norton" has been hijacked.
I did run a patch which is requested from time to time. This time this is possibly what happened: https://community.norton.com/en/blo...n-product-update-225-windows-10-compatibility
Look at this gem from Norton quote: "When will I receive the patch?
As is our standard practice, we are deploying the patch in a phased manner. We have released the patch to randomly selected customers, and will then monitor our telemetry and forum feedback for any problems or issues. Once we have confirmed the effectiveness of the patch, we will make it available to all customers. We will post an update on the Norton Community Forums when we make the patch available to all customers."
Give me a break This doesn't win you customers Norton.

I think we've all used Norton/... paid for a-v's at one time or another
With all of the good/ free offering and the facts malware is todays most used attack method I'd just save the money and put it elsewhere

As an unsolicited Beta tester for the new Norton I am seeing it pick up a lot more potential "threats" from low to high threat. They look like false positives to me but wouldn't really know.

Yea paid for version antivirus programs usually find more stuff closer to renewal
Try to prove themselves as a relevant product to keep.

I performed a system image restore. Went into Administration settings and turned off Automatic download of new version. So I'm still running Norton 360 21.7.0.11.
I think the latest version is a Beta preparation for Windows 10. I'll be sticking with Windows 7 for a while.

That also happened to my brother. He turn on his laptop and he revised as always the Norton and found it was white with green. The entire menu changes appearance. The only drawback is that you can not perform an analysis of the laptop.

Norton "Safe Site" failed yet again on this PC and a new build. This PC - latest Firefox, other PC IE 11 at the moment. Chrome on a 3rd PC has always had problems. I have to say this product is looking bad even though I've used it for a number of years.

No difference.
Here is a screenshot using the latest Firefox browser. The search was "solar energy".
Notice there is one Norton safe site notification but the others from reputable sites including Wikipedia (https) have no reputation indication except by the green circle WOT (Web of Trust). Two of my other PCs (one a new build using Internet explorer) give the same result. It was a little annoying when Norton Chat support first confused the green circle WOT with Norton but ended up saying the other items were advertisements not covered by Norton Safe Site and Norton was performing fine on my PC!!! This is rubbish and I've used Norton for years.

The Norton safe site icons have magically reappeared. I have not installed any updates or system configuration changes. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks for your offers of assistance Praveen/Norton Suport.
