I personally always use Norton, Others will say, no, comes down you, if you use or not.

Norton had some problems a few years ago and people didn't feel comfortable using it. Many people now say those problems have been addressed and Norton is excellent. You could always try Norton and see how you like it. If it's not for you, you could go back to MSE or try some other security product. I'd caution about running two products at the same time, however. If both are running real time scans at the same time they could conflict with each other. This could result in system slow downs or even crashes.

YOU SHOULD NOT RUN 2 MALWARE APPS AT THE SAME TIME.

If you want to run Norton (and I wouldnt) you should remove both of the others.

I think Norton is best in terms of protection i accept that it requires system memory more than other :) but if you'r PC is good enough (at least 1GB ram) i recommend Norton....
Personal experience...:)

I think NIS2011 is great if you do online banking or download regularly as it has some good features - Please bear in mind that Norton is quite a resourceful Antivirus and Even my system performance was impacted when I installed it

If you just want an Antivirus in the background and you do not do online banking then MSE is a great AV

   Warning
MSE Provides BASIC Protection only! Norton has more advanced Protection

Hmm, I never noticed any of that. CPUs are: 2.5GHz AMD duo core, Q6600, and i7. All have SSDs.

I like Norton NIS2011 and am prepared to pay for it.
But look out this topic is more sensitive than religion and politics. Both are correctly banned from discussion.

Norton is just fine these days. They used to be a resource hog and hard to uninstall. It hasn't been that way for the 2010 and 2011 product.

As to the exact resource usage, it's going to vary from user to user....but I don't think you will notice any significant change from MSE.

Without a doubt, Norton has far more bells and whisltes and features than MSE. If you put yourself into risky situations, I would use Norton over both MSE or Avast. I personally don't get into risky situations, so I don't feel like spending the money.

And as others said, I would not run MSE and Avast at the same time.

Currently Norton Antivirus 2011 1 user is $19.99 at NewEgg, and Norton Internet Security 2011 3 user is $49.95. I cannot find a single user license for NIS at NewEgg.

At Amazon, NIS 2011 1 user is $23. And 3 users is $35.

Wierd thing is Norton will usually cost more to renew at end of 1st year than it costs to simply buy the software again. I have no idea why that is the case.

Thanks for the reply guys.I think the best course of action is to install Norton and see how my system behaves for couple of days.I have 2.4 GHz Intel i3 with 3 GB of RAM,i think it may be sufficient for NIS 2011.

As for MSE and Avast running together,so far they have not conflicted with each other and my system has never crashed.Well that might be just me.

Will get back to you guys soon.

Just a quick update.Installation of NIS 2011 hardly took 1 min.The interface looks slick and clean with some nice features and its not as resource hogging anti virus as some people say,my CPU usage hardly goes above 20 % even while performing full scan and opening multiple tabs in chrome and playing music.

Just a quick question where can i find the firewall settings in NIS 2011??i couldn't find or i haven't looked enough

Look under Network Settings near the bottom is Smart Firewall with additional choices in that section.
Also check out Identity Safe Tool Bar. It stores your login and passwords and auto populates the web site.
