I use WOT which is a plugin/addon available for both IE and Firefox.

WOT stands for Web Of Trust.

I suggest you try it. You can always remove WOT if you are not satisfied.

I also use Microsoft Security Essentials.

With Firefox I use NoScript which can be a pain at times but it does help to keep websites from unruly behaviour.

With Firefox I also use AdBlock Plus which results in a few websites, i think ebay is one of them, rebelling against it. For such sites you add an exception if you really need the site.

I have been a WOT user for about 2 years it works great.

BinkerNate,

Just another suggestion, you could just buy another key, it is usually cheaper to buy another key then to renew your key..(Try amazon I got one key for 30 bucks) I have used Norton, and like it alot because I hardly have to do anything, it does everything by itself! MSE is a good choice for people that don't want to pay, and for the average person and does a pretty good job at protecting your computer.

Do your research and pick the product that best fits your needs...

Hope this Helps..:)

I live in Ireland and don't know anything about newegg but last time I checked newegg.com had Norton at a really great price.

Edit: Not as good as I thought but still worth checking all the different versions. Quick check: NAV 1 user licence is under $30.

He said that it made his computer slow when booting up, not that it used a lot of memory. The issue is that once it loads it scans everything loading into memory. That slows down the boot process. With 4.8 you could see it scanning all the startup files.

JonM33: i meant the questions about MSE...

You said, "Avast 5 doesn't use much memory." That isn't about MSE. ;)

correct, but 1 lineshift was missing between the two comments...:o
so therefore it looks a bit confusing....

it should have been:

yes, it´s commonly called MSE.

the first part was about MSE, the second about Avast.

i´ve edited my post now....

thanks for telling me about the error. :D

Okay, guys. I dl-ed MSE. Everything seems okay so far, I'll probably start a new thread for MSE problems and questions unless there is already one here.

Side-question: I still miss Norton's internet security by giving me, for example, a checkmark next to a weblink via google results that state if the site is safe or not. Does MSE provide that anyway, or can I dl something to do that that won't rfuin the performace of both MSE and my computer?
