Not getting as much packets as in Windows 7

Hi, this is probably more of a Windows XP problem but because I'm comparing it with Windows 7, I post it here. Here's actually a copy&paste of what I've written in other forums, but still got no answer to it.

I have a http://www.techsupportforum.com/#Windows XP Home Edition SP3 running on an Intel QuadCore (Core2Quad) machine with a 4GB RAM and a 500GB HDD. Although my problem is more of a network (internet) related, I am also curious if the details I gave will have an impact to my problem. So my main problem is I have Windows XP on the D: drive and Windows 7 on the C: drive (I'm dual booting). I am connected to the internet through a LAN cable connected to a TP-Link router. My Windows 7 (where I post this question from) get internet connection very easily. It's fast and running without any problem. Recently I noticed that the number of packets sent and received to my Windows 7 is a lot. Here's a screen cap of what I am getting:

Now, with my http://www.techsupportforum.com/#Windows XP Home Edition, it's different. I am getting a connection (which is good), but I'm only getting a few packets sent and received (which is bad). Here's what I'm getting:

Because of this, I cannot activate my Windows XP and cannot download any update (Windows update, AntiVirus update, etc..). In brief, I cannot use the internet at all.
I've tried everything from clicking the "repair" button, disabling the network adapter, uninstalling the network adapter driver, restarting the router, plug-off the LAN cable, pinging through command prompt, using OPENDNS.com, using a static IP, changing every settings in my router, even formating my HDD and re-installing my Windows XP & Windows 7 several times. The problem is still not fixed.

It would be great if someone can actually help me out.

Hi and welcome to seven forums Im confused, why is high traffic good and low traffic bad? Could you be a little more specific? I think you are asking why the difference, and that the xp box id giving you grief. Is that correct?

This problem can have many causes, but hardware and router are not the problem, because you would get the same in Win7.

So the problem must be in the driver, or maybe some conflicting software.

Also there might be updates for it, but you cannot get them.



I recommend:

Search for the newest Lan driver for your setup.

In Win7 surf to Microsoft update site, and download XP updates manually.

Then reboot to XP and install the updates

Thanks for replying, but can you tell me how to get a manual updates of Windows XP?
I've tried looking it up on Google, but none of the results actually gives the latest updates for my Win XP SP3.
