Solved Windows 7 Home Premium getting Build 7601 Copy of Windows not Genuine

Hi,

My mom's Lenovo laptop started getting the "Windows 7 Build 7601 Copy of Windows is not genuine" error. My mom said that this started Jan 9th, which means she got the I incorrect Windows Update. I've searched this error and I can't find any fix for Windows 7 Home Premium. She does not have update "KB971033" so I can't uninstall it. Ive tried following, Update not on my machine, but I don't have a Product ID to enter.

Another issue I have is when my mom moved back to Wisconsin, she must have accidentally left her Lenovo manual with Certificate of Authentication for Windows 7 in Texas (her move was sudden and she left a lot of stuff behind as we sold her home furnished) so I don't have her Product ID code. I tried to enter the code on the sticker on her laptop, but it states its not a genuine copy of windows when I try to reactivate her license.

Thanks Roy! After following your instructions, I was able to go to Computer Properties and re-enter the product id from the laptop sticker and activate Windows again It's fixed.
