Hello all:
Lately I've been having issues with system response, across nearly any/all programs. When an app, such as Firefox or Thunderbird, takes a little longer to perform an action, it goes into 'Not Responding' mode, and usually clears up within seconds. This sometimes also happens upon starting an app, for example, my file browser, xplorer². I open it and it is immediately in 'Not Responding' mode. Again, it clears up in seconds.
But even more recently it has become a bit more troublesome. For example, when I was composing an email last night I was working rather quickly, and after some speedy typing I quickly clicked the 'attach' button; Thunderbird hung up, and, went into 'Not Responding' mode. This time I had to eventually close the program. This happened three times. The upshot was that I had to be a bit slower and more deliberate with my actions, allowing a second between speedy typing and clicking on buttons.
In case it matters, all of my system specs are in the 'system specs' section of my profile. Just click 'siouxdax'! Also, my page file is set to 1GB currently.
So, does anyone else have this issue? Both of my machines have pretty much handled anything I've thrown at it, save for something like The Sims 3. For God's sake, I was only composing an email, opening a file browser, hopping around online, etc...
Any help/suggestions/advice is very much appreciated!
Edit: Just noticed that 'my system specs' appears at the bottom of this post as a drop-down item! Cool!
