Notepad & Crash

Ok guys I have been having a problem with Notepad on a Windows 7 system, when I open and then hit save it crashes my PC, on another box, it wont disappear it just sits, I can get rid of it unless I reboot,with the text never saved.

I have tried and reproduced this on 3 different machines one running PRO and the others run Ultimate.

did you install off the same dvd? Does it give you a BSOD? if so go into c:\windows\minidump, zip the dmp file and upload it to us

If not you can type eventvwr in search and go to the windows logs>applications tab. Look for errors (they have red in the left hand column) that have app hang, app crash, or notepad in them. when you find them copy down the event ID and "source" code ans let us know what they are

Checking now, and NO the installations were from separate disc's , we are thinking it may have been ZoneAlarm, but on reinstall with a full format we are getting the same problem, I am not able to get the logs from work PC's at the moment, but will load the one off my PC here at home, when I have somewhat of a chance. Thanks for your quick reply.

It has to do with your antivirus you install on all machines.

Or some other app you installed to all machines.

See if it happens in safe mode.
