Now playing in WLM not working.

Hi.

Now playing does not seem to work in WLM, no matter what app I use, be it WMP, Spotify, iTunes/Songbird, it's not working, it's the same on my desktop too thats far away from me at the moment.

Any ideas?

I'm running Windows 7.

How does Now Playing not work? What happens?

How long has this been happening?

Did you do a clean install, upgrade, or did Windows 7 come preinstalled on your machine?

Clean install, this has being happening on both systems for ages, even before the last install I did.

Nothing happens really, just the track that is playing does not show up in WLM.

The new Now Playing window in WMP12 isn't affected by any other programs, so neither am I sure what your problem is... Oh...
How do you start playing a file? by clicking in the file in Explorer? From the library in WMP12? Drag&Drop to the playlist?

In each case when you switch to the Now Playing window the song shouldn't show up as the playlist is not visible by default, and if you don't have any visualization enabled all you'd get is a black screen, the title of the current song/artist/album (depending on which tags you have written) will scroll at the top left corner of the window.

In WLM ( Windows Live Messenger) their is an option for now playing, this shows in your status what track you are currently listening to. Other media players such as Spotify, Songbird, Winamp, iTunes, WMP support this feature to show what you are currently playing in WLM. The problem is, for some reason, despite the option being ticked in WLM, nothing is still showing in my status, This is the same on my desktop too.

go to winamp.com and search for MessengerAmp or msn and try the plugins for msn playing now.
that will sort the wlm 1

Ok, well I got an older version of messenger and that works, so I think it is a compatability problem between WLM 2009 and the media players or between it and Windows 7.
